The MidCity Property Group together with the Tyger Valley College was recently involved in a Community project for The Boschkop Primary School and the Kungwini Early Learning Centre, Lethabong. The project encompassed the building and maintenance of two sandpit playing areas. The project was completed with the generous help of Olaf Smit from Blue Magnolia Construction, who kindly sponsored site supervision, labour and some building materials.

“It is important for us as a Company to give back to our communities in whichever way we can” commented David Hewer, MD of the MidCity Property Group. “These two sandpits will improve their learning experience, which is so valuable to their upbringing. “These two sandpits may not be much value to us, but to these children it makes the world of difference. Every helping hand provides these needy children with something they desperately need.” David Hewer commented further,

The Kungwini Early Learning Centre in Lethabong, falls under the umbrella of projects managed by the Kungwini Welfare Organisation (KWO). The school started off operating from a tent and through sponsorships has grown to what it is today. The classrooms are situated in neatly painted tin roof shacks, and are beautifully decorated for optimum stimulation. Even though there is no clean running water and facilities, the conditions are marginally better than in the tent.. The school aims to improve their facilities for a better learning experience, through generous sponsorships from private and corporate donors.

The Boschkop Primary School currently accommodates ± 900 students from nursery school level right through to high school level. The school has no available funding to provide the nursery school with an adequate play area and rely on sponsorships to provide any form of facilities for the toddlers. Before, they only had a make-shift play area that provided little experience for the kids. Now, they have a play area where they can explore and learn.

The two schools are eternally grateful for the generous help of MidCity, Olaf Smit and the Tyger Valley College. It is essential that the children, who are the future of our country, receive an efficient and valuable educational experience.
