MIDCITY THROWS THE `ROOF WETTING` EVENT OF THE YEAR

9/21/2009

The roof wetting event of the Barloworld’s Student Residence was one of MidCity’s biggest and proudest moments during 2009.  The event took place on 23 June 2009 with a crowd of 75 people bustling at the newly renovated building, ready to crown it for final handover.

This newly renovated building is situated in Isando, on the East Rand and serves as a student residence for Barloworld’s trainees.  Barloworld Equipment outsourced MidCity to locate a building and to renovate it into students’ accommodation facilities.  The project was completed on time.  The rooms are carefully designed to accommodate the students during their stay.  The accommodation consists of single quarter rooms with a shower, coffee station, a bed as well as a study nook.  There are four single quarter rooms to a unit as well as bigger two bedroom units. Each has a communal lounge area for group studies.

The lavish event commenced at 15:00pm with a breathtaking handover ceremony as MidCity handed over the new building to Barloworld Equipment.  The event consisted of delicately prepared canapés served with Champagne and carefully planned background music to compliment the atmosphere.

It is evident that the event as well as the entire project was a huge success.  With the R57-million renovation completed and already in full use, it is one more successful project that MidCity can put on their completed list.  What is even greater than just completing the project is that MidCity is also managing the building and staff that take care of the students during their stay.  Nevertheless, this is a relationship between MidCity and Barloworld Equipment that will travel together for many years to come.
